Grandma's Ginger Snaps


Ingredients:

3¼ cups flour
1/2 teaspoon soda
1 tablespoon ginger
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup molasses
1/3 cup lard
1/4 cup butter

Directions:
  • Sift the dry ingredients together and set aside.
  • Heat the molasses to boiling and pour over the lard and butter.
  • Add dry mixture to the butter mixture and make dough.
  • Cool the mixture until it is stiff and cold.
  • Preheat oven to 400ºF (205ºC).
  • Roll dough as thin as possible, cut with a small round cutter, arrange on cookie pan and bake, being careful not to burn.

Makes about 4 dozen cookies.
