Homemade Biscuits


1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 tablespoon cold butter
1/2 cup milk
1 tablespoon butter, softened for greasing pan


  • Grease baking pan with butter; set aside.
  • Sift flour, salt and baking powder; set aside.
  • Chop cold butter into small pieces with a knife and add to the sifted flour.
  • Using pastry blender or fork, mix butter and flour until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add milk and form a soft dough.
  • Preheat oven to 400 F (205 C).
  • Place dough on a board with a little flour and knead gently until smooth. Roll out to 1/2-inch thickness.
  • Use small cutter, cut biscuits and place them in greased pan.
  • Bake in a preheated oven for about 10 minutes or until nicely browned.
